An update via the Brazilian Gymnastics Federation’s Facebook page today explains that this weekend 23 of Brazil’s female gymnasts will go under the watchful eye of Alexander Alexandrov to determine the gymnasts who will work over the next three years towards the 2016 Olympic Games.
My understanding from the translated version is that Alexandrov has been observing the girls training for the last five days. Tomorrow they will be assessed by their countries new Head Coach, a technical panel and an “arbitration panel”. According to the post, the girls have really upped their game in the last 5 days, working to impress Alexandrov. Both gymnasts and coaches have even more motivation and desire to compete at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. He has also already begun to make changes to their system, not only in technique but also in regards to the physical preparation of the gymnasts. The former Russian Head Coach said:
“I see a lot of potential in these athletes, but we have to work hard. They have progressed during these days. We have good gymnasts in Brazil and we have good technicians. Just depends on them to work hard to get the achievements, “
Those who will carefully assessed tomorrow are as follows:
Adrian Garcia, Daniele Hypolito, Flávia Saraiva, Isabelle Cruz, Leticia da Costa, Maria Cecília Cruz, Milena Tan and Rebecca Andrade, Ana Flávia Silva, Beatriz Silveira, Pedro Castillo, Daniela Silva Santana, Ingrid Messiah, Jade Barbosa, Julie Kim Sinmon, Leandra Saints Gago, Lorena Ramirez, Cheryl Dean, Mariana Oliveira, Mariana Valentine, Ank Veiga and John Aguilar.
